Bernie & Louise
Sharing our lives, home and love with our beloved Shih Tzu.
Breeding the BEST to the BEST to get BETTER and we do.

I supervise ANYTHING and EVERYTHING concerning our 15 Shih Tzu adults and their puppies. Although I am not as physically able to do as much as I used to, I still do all top knots at least once a day and ears every week, as well as cleaning and scaling all teeth. Every Tzu is checked daily..BY ME.

The Puppy Run in The Rain
The very small black spots are a few pups that went out with Bernie as well as their mom and a few older Tzu kids. No matter what the weather, they go out. Funny thing is, as sweet as these pups are, it's amazing that none have ever melted from the rain or the Florida heat.
There are 3 runs....the puppy run that you see here, the main dog run, which is larger then the puppy run, and a small side run, for the morning and late at night. They also have two large areas fenced and cleared in which to romp.... in front of the house and behind the runs.

No back yard breeders here....just 35+ years of EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE...with the Shih Tzu. Both Bernie and I have raised all these puppies with love and kindness. No yelling, screaming, or scaring, and certainly no hitting. When they need to be corrected, we use the stare down method...and it works. They just want to be loved....and that's easy because they are so lovable.
Before leaving our home, all our puppies are crate trained and drink from a water bottle on their own, rather then a bowl. The water bottle ensures the availability of fresh water 24/7 especially while they are being trained. It also alleviates wet faces that drip on the floor and prevents bacteria build up that occurs in an open water bowl. It is assuring knowing they will have fresh water at all times.
By 6 weeks of age they have been successfully conditioned to sleep through the night and stay clean, dry and quiet from 10 PM to 6 AM. Our pups are comfortable using both training pads and going outside. Most, depending on size, start going outside in the puppy run at 4 1/2 weeks old. They use a dog door, to get to the puppy run and relieve themselves on the lawn.
We never put our puppies on newspaper, only cotton or knit sheets, bath mats, training pads, or grass. They learn to walk on numerous surfaces. All the our Shih Tzu kids have plenty of fresh air and sunshine...My husband, Bernie, even made hills for them, which help to develop their muscles. We make it a practice to accustom all puppies to rain, thunder and loud noises, lawn mower, electric broom, vacuum, blender, animated toys, etc...as well as different people. When people follow my suggestions, after taking one of our puppies home...there is no crying/screaming the first night or any night or anytime.....NONE AT ALL.
We have never had picky eaters here. Picky eaters are made not born. All pups are handled many times, daily by different people. Our pups are not yippee or high strung. They are just as happy if they are playing with someone, canine or human, sitting on a lap or amusing themselves.
All our pups learn good grooming behavior and practice it.
Our BLACKS as well as our BLACK/WHITE pups will not fade, their color won't look dull/muted in a few years. The color
they are now is the exact color they will be 13+ years down the road.
There is always someone available 24/7 to answer questions and offer advice....and 99% of the time it is I....I can always be reached by phone. We also board the pups that we raised, when their humans are going away...providing we don't have very young puppies. They are loose and they run and hang out with their parents, siblings and others they were raised with. If the owners request that we crate them, we will NOT board them here.
At this time we have 15 Shih Tzu. No cages or crates here. Those kids who are older and have been spayed or neutered, remain with us....after all they are still our kids :-)
